1. Agreeing to these terms
By using mutemyname.com or signing up for our waitlist or service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
2. What MuteMyName does
MuteMyName searches people-search websites for listings that appear to be about you, shows you what we find, and, if you sign up for removal, submits opt-out requests to those sites on your behalf and checks back periodically for new or returning listings.
3. No guarantee of permanent removal
We work hard to get your listings taken down, but we don't control people-search sites. They decide whether and when to honor a request, and many of them re-list people when they collect new data. That's why we keep checking. We can't promise that every listing will be removed, that removals will be permanent, or that your information won't appear somewhere else.
Some sites require you to confirm a request yourself (for example, by clicking an email link). When that happens we'll let you know.
4. The free check
The free exposure check costs nothing and comes with no obligation. You don't need to give payment details, and you're not signing up for anything paid by requesting it.
5. Payments, refunds, and cancellation
To be decided. Pricing, billing frequency, refunds, and how to cancel will be added here before any paid plan launches. No one will be charged without first seeing and agreeing to these terms.
6. Acting on your behalf (authorized agent)
Placeholder. If you sign up for removal, you'll authorize MuteMyName to act as your agent to submit opt-out and deletion requests to people-search sites and data brokers on your behalf, using the information you give us. The exact wording of this authorization will be finalized before removal service launches.
7. Your responsibilities
- Give us accurate information about yourself.
- Only request checks or removals for yourself, or for someone who has authorized you to act for them.
- Don't use the service for anything unlawful, or to look up or harass other people.
8. Your privacy
How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy. The short version: we never sell or share your data.
9. Limits of liability
The service is provided "as is." To the extent the law allows, MuteMyName isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for what third-party websites do with your information.
10. Changes and ending the service
We may update these terms as the service grows. We'll change the date at the top of this page and email you about significant changes. You can stop using the service and ask us to delete your data at any time.
